Doers evening September 21, 2022


6:30 pm  - Trinity United Church Hall Welcome and Acknowledgement of Territory

Ice Cream Sundays (ice cream supplied by Efcon thanks to Kimberly McKee) and a surprise birthday cake shared by Dave Squires the birthday boy! 

“We build God’s Community at Trinity How?” printed on a communal sheet on tables hoping to bring attention to the importance of building community at Trinity.


7:00 pm - Rev. David Cathcart led us in a Compassion meditation where we breath “in” the negative and hurting around us and “out” peace, love and compassion. 

Governance Jo-Ann Dahms, Betty McLean and Judi Carroll reported: 
•    Financial challenges are worsening. Trinity needs to consider its options. A town hall is set for Nov 13 following the service and a decisions made by Nov 20. 
•    Congregational bazaar set for Nov 26
•    Winter Shelter at Trinity for the months October, December and February through Progressive Housing Society 9:30pm – 7am daily. Harvey will be the Emergency contact, a liaison person is also required to keep the lines of communication open between Trinity and Progressive Housing Society. _______________________.
•    Thank you to Rev David Cathcart for his letter of Sept 8 to Trinity congregation 
•    Food Bank: donations are down. Judi C is currently liaison with Share.
•    Paul’s Place kitchen is up and running with Tom Shaw and a team of volunteers. Judi C is current liaison  

Fund Raising:
Trunk Sale has made (so far) over $3,600
Orange Shirt Day at Trinity Sept 25…. wear your orange shirt. A selfie will be taken of the congregation.
Stewardship:
Gender based violence affects all our communities. “Thursdays in Black” is a worldwide project that World Council of Churches and Women’s Inter Church council of Canada work to raise awareness. Joy passed “Thursdays in Black” pins to help us share this message.

Fraser Health Inspection of Trinity United Church building report includes a request that the kitchen has spray bottle holding ½ tsp bleach to 1 liter water to clean counters, handles and all general surfaces. 

Coffee Service on Sunday after church: we are encouraged to sign up with each other. Barb Robertson introduced a cupcake piggy bank to collect any loose change when helping ourselves to a beverage.

Property: Dave Squires reported
•    Dishwasher running, Toilet fixed, Exhaust fan Wed 28 9am repair person booked. Person needed to open the door ________________.
•    Stain glass buckling. Zoe has planned (since meeting) 7pm Thursday Sept 29 with pacific glass works
•    Modem in hall: should now work…. had been reset with Name and Password erased. Dave says the default has now been set to name and password if reset again.  
•    To do: seals around doors, lights on parking lot (4 not working), surface on parking lot. ____________________, ________________, _________________.
•    Work Party possibly October 22: Trim hedges, paint yellow on parking lot, lay mulch. 
•    Water damage on wall in kitchen from dishwasher leak. Dave will look into this.

UCW: Peggy reported
•    Executive meeting in October
•    Sarah’s and Deborah’s met in September and Rachels will meet in October
•    Fraser Presbyterial AGM is Oct 4 at Peninsula United 9:30 – 2:30
•    2023 Calendars $8 each. (10 ordered)
•    Bazaar meeting Sept 23 10am in church library
•    World Day of Prayer Mar 3. Trinity will host this service written by people of Taiwan.

Worship and Music: Judi Carroll reported
•    New process for communion to start Oct 9
•    Advent event Dec 18
•    Welcome back Sunday Sept 25
•    Membership Sunday Oct 30
•    Thanksgiving decorating Oct 8
•    Pictures for Remembrance Sunday, Nov. 6
•    Needing new sound and tech people trained________________.
•    Possible new choir members_________________.

Pastoral Care: Wendy Squires reported
•    Membership classes Oct.2, 16, 23
•    Prayer roster 52-week system
•    Wednesday chat on zoom – Linda Lund will host and ask for a replacement when needed.
•    Prayer circle “in person” meeting sometime in October
•    List being made of “shut ins” and others who might need a contact regularly from the church.
•    Contacting every church member’s household by November 12 to communicate church happenings. ______________________.
