First United Sandwiches: To assist a busy Church in Downtown Vancouver, sandwiches are made in the church kitchen. Anyone may join us in the kitchen on the 4th Wednesday each month @ 9:00 a.m. We can always use sandwich fillings! Financial help, too! For more information or to volunteer food or your help, contact the church office at 942-0022
Purpose: To unite all women of the congregation for the total mission of the Church, and to provide a medium through which they may express their loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study, fellowship and service.
UCW activities include the annual Christmas Bazaar, The Fall Supper, weekly Thrift sales, Robbie Burns Supper, a Spring Strawberry Tea, and participation in our city's World Day of Prayer Service. The executive of the UCW sponsors a Fall Get-Together for all ladies of the congregation, as well as one or two General Meetings during the year. Each UCW unit meets once a month, and provides its own program. Here is a list of the units:
Deborah Unit - meets the second Wednesday evening
For many years, this group has hosted Breakfast with Santa early in December, and Robbie Burns night in January.
Friendship Group - meets the second Tuesday afternoon at 12 o'clock
Our more senior members have been active in recent years creating comforters and quilts for those cool, damp evenings.
Rachel Unit - meets the second Monday evening
They have traditionally hosted a Strawberry Tea in June each year and coordinate the Memorial Tree during Advent
Sarah Unit - meets the second Tuesday evening
The UCW Prayer:
And now, go with us, Lord,
Into the days ahead.
Strengthen us for peace,
Give us wisdom,
Keep us humble,
And may we live and work together,
And so striving,
Build a new and better world
of tomorrow.
